REVIEW: Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985)

A while ago, Generic published a post about why the 80’s is the best decade in the history of film. (Read it here.) 

Although the post is excellent, (thanks to Inertia Pictures) I can’t help but feel that a very important movie has been completely overlooked. Slap bang in the middle of the decade, Tim Burton brought us ‘Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure,’ often referred to as just ‘Pee-Wee,’ which is certainly one of the 80’s funniest movies – if not one of the all time comedy favourites.

Pee-Wee Herman, played by himself, who is played by Paul Reubens (we know it’s strange) is an erratic and resourceful individual. Cartoonish and childish, Pee-Wee’s house is full of whirring machinery and whacky inventions, and I’ve gotta admit, it’s completely awesome.
